This blog is about all the playlist that I had in the Spotify. It contains all the categorization of the music I like and the reason why I have these different categories (playlist). Music is one of the biggest entertainment activity for me. It is different from others as music can be played in the background to make it have the parallelism properties. Like I am listening to Something Just Like This by Coldplay and The Chainsmokers. As I learned in the Computer Architecture class, human can only do single thing at a time. Thus, listening to music is like a “extra” free bonus for me while I was doing something else. It not only boost my working efficiency, but also takes no cost for time.

Description
Every song in this playlist is the top choice for me, or I think that song is created beyond human’s scope (extraordinary good). Usually, only one song is selected from a specific artist, even though there are many great songs from that artist. This fits the title of this playlist “Best of the Best”. Only the best is selected among the bests.

Description
As I am a big rock fan, a playlist for rock n’ roll is definitely a must-have thing. In this playlist, I included many classical rock band like Guns N’ Roses, Queen, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I also put many bands and individuals from 90’s to 00’s in the list, like Radiohead and Coldplay. As for modern rock music, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park is in the list.

Description
This is the only playlist that I have downloaded in my local device. As stated in the title fo the playlist, this playlist is the one I play in the car. Most of the songs in the list have a strong beat and thus it is suitable while driving. Also, I play this playlist while I was playing video game Euro Truck Simulator 2. In fact, this is the original reason I created this playlist. After the video game, I realize that I can use this playlist in the real car.

The name of this playlist is translated into “Chinese songs”, so you can see what this playlist is about directly from the title of the playlist. The filtering policy for this playlist is simple: as long as the song is in Chinese, I put it into this playlist. There is a funny story of this playlist. As you scroll down through this playlist, you may find some songs with English title. Well, it is true that some Chinese songs are actually entitled by English words. In contrast, there is also some Chinese songs that has a lot of English in the lyrics. I see these as the combination of Western and Eastern culture.

This playlist is about Hip Hop, and specific for Golden age Hip Hop. You may wonder what is Golden age. It is officially defined as the hip hop song comes from time range between the 1980s and early 90s12. However, I want to extend this range a bit personally. Instead of using time as filter, I used the combination of time span and hip hop genre to filter out this list. There different types of hip hop genre in this playlist, like Hardcore hip hop3, G-funk4, and Boom bap5. This playlist also included some of the best hip hop artist around the world such as Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., N.W.A., and Snoop Dogg.

Okay, so I am not a christian, but I love to listen to Christmas music when it is time for Christmas. Everybody knows which song will appear on top of this playlist. Yes, it is All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey. There are some other classical songs like Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms and Last Christmas by Wham!. I only play this list during Christmas period and used as a background music.

Well, it is not my fault to create these confused title of playlist :). The name of this list is actually an academic term used in music, which means “instrumental music composed purely as music, and not intended to represent or illustrate something else” by Oxford Dictionary6. The reason why I created this purely music list is that I sometimes likes to stay in a calm environment. Even though I like to listen to Pop, Rock, and Rap music, those are not fitting for me in a tranquil situation. What absolute music have brings calm to me and make me relax, which is a totally different feelings from others.

Well, this is a bit dangerous if I really do that, not only because of California Law but also because of distraction from music. In fact, all the that I put is from the cycling video I watched before. The heavily beat sounds like the heart beat of the cycling athlete in the video. I really wish I can create a video that has the song below as the background music.
